Coconut Bacon

Perfect for adding a savoury crunch to salads, soup, casseroles, the options are endless!

Ingredients

  • 1 bag original coconut chips (94 gram bag)
  • 1 tbsp bragg’s soy sauce
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp liquid smoke
  • 1/2 tsp sea salt

Instructions

  • Preheat the Oven:
Preheat your oven to 325°F (163°C). Ensure the oven is fully heated before placing the coconut chips inside.
    Prepare Coconut Chips:
Open the bag of Original Coconut Chips and spread them evenly on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. This will help prevent sticking and make cleanup easier.
    Mix the Flavors:
In a small bowl, combine Bragg's Soy Sauce, paprika, and liquid smoke. Stir well to create a uniform mixture.
    Coat the Coconut Chips:
Drizzle the prepared flavor mixture over the coconut chips. Use your hands or a spatula to toss and coat the chips evenly, ensuring each chip absorbs the smoky and savoury flavours.
    Spread Evenly:
Arrange the coated coconut chips in a single layer on the baking sheet. This ensures that each chip gets crispy and flavorful during baking.
    Bake to Perfection:
Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake for approximately 10-15 minutes, or until the coconut chips turn golden brown and become crispy. Keep an eye on them to prevent burning.
    Cool and Enjoy:
Once done, remove the baking sheet from the oven and allow the coconut bacon to cool for a few minutes. The chips will continue to crisp up as they cool. Transfer the coconut bacon to a serving bowl or use it to enhance your favorite dishes.
    Store for Later:
If you have any leftovers, store them in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week. Enjoy the delicious smokiness of your homemade coconut bacon in salads, wraps, or as a crunchy snack.
