Chocolate Espresso Cherry Smoothie

I cycle through various breakfast phases, often sticking to a particular choice for months once I discover something I truly enjoy. The current favorite in my breakfast rotation undoubtedly falls into that category. It’s a combination that not only satisfies my coffee cravings but also serves as a wholesome breakfast, making my mornings remarkably efficient!

This breakfast choice boasts a generous amount of protein, providing the ideal foundation for maintaining balanced blood sugar levels throughout the morning. The secret ingredient that adds a delightful twist to this routine is the inclusion of frozen cherries, contributing to a smooth and creamy texture.

Chocolate Cherry Espresso Smoothie

Excellent for breakfast or a snack!

Servings 1

Equipment

  • 1 blender

Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup unsweetened plant based milk
  • 1 cup frozen cherries
  • 1 cup spinach
  • 2 tbsp raw cacao powder
  • 1 scoop Vega vanilla protein powder or your favourite brand
  • handful of ice
  • 1 shot of cooled espresso or 1 tsp instant espresso, mixed w/ 1 tbsp boiling water

Instructions
 

  • Add the liquid of choice first, then the protein powder and remaining ingredients. I find this helps the protein powder mix in more smoothly and not fly to the top of the blender when you first turn it on!
    Blend and enjoy.

Notes

You can also chill coffee if you’d like too add it instead of espresso.
